최지만은 토우장식 항아리, 백제시대 호자(남성용 간이변기), 조선백자 묘지합과 지석을 모티브 삼아 21세기의 이야기로 탈바꿈시킨다. 그는 여유로움이 느껴지는 토우의 자리를 몰개성적이고, 여유가 없어지는 현대인의 모습으로 대체하고, 생활을 영위하는데 필수적이지만 지극히 개인적인 배설의 행위를 화려하게 표현하고, 현대의 언어로 자신의 삶의 신조를 지석에 적음으로써 현대인의 삶을 다양한 어조로 표현한다.
CHOI, Jiman takes earthenware jars decorated with figurines, a portable urinal called hoja dating to Baekje Kingdom period, and white porcelain steles from the Joseon period as motifs for his work. He transforms their ancient stories into a story of the 21st century. He expresses lives of modern people in a distinct way of transforming the image of warm earthenware figurine into depersonalized and less and less relaxed modern people, expressing the extremely personal act of elimination colorfully and writing his creed of life on the stele.

산 아래 한 사람이 흙을 만나 선비가 되었다.
21세기에 한 남자가 살고 있었다. 그는 산밑에 살고 있었고 산을 좋아하였다. 그의 이름에는 높은 산을 의미하는 글자가 들어가 있었다. 또한, 그는 흙을 만지는 것을 좋아하였다. 그러나, 그가 살고 있던 시대의 대부분의 사람들은 흙 같은 것은 중요하게 생각하지 않았던 것 같다.
당시는 사람들 모두가 바쁜 생활을 하고 있었고 주변을 돌아볼 여유가 없었다. 세상이 너무도 빨리 변화했기 때문에 사람들은 한 가지에 대하여 깊이 있게 생각해볼 겨를이 없었다. 그 남자에게 흙으로 무엇인가를 만드는 일은 삶의 행복이었다.
흙으로 무엇인가를 만드는 일은 그에게 인생에 대한 가르침을 주었다. 그가 무엇인가를 만드는데 있어서 욕심이 생기고, 그래서 무리하게 되고, 그 과정에 실수를 저질렀다면 그 생각지 못한 원인이 항상 좋지 않은 결과로 드러나게 되었다.
그는 흙으로부터 인생에 대한 가르침을 받았고 흙과 같은 인생을 살기를 원했다. 그는 결국 선비가 되었다.

麓の一人が土を会って、ソンビがなった
21世紀に一人の男が住んでいた。 彼は山の下に住んでおり山が好きだった。 彼の名前には高い山を意味する文字が入っていた。 また、彼は土を触ることを好きだった。 しかし、彼が住んでいた時代の大部分の人は土のようなものは大切に思っていなかったようだ。
当時はすべての人々が忙しい生活をしていて、周辺を振り返る余裕がなかった。 世の中があまりにも早く変化したために人々は一つについて深く考えてみる余裕がなかった。 その男に土で何かを作ることは暮らしの幸福だった。
土で何かを作る仕事は彼に人生についた教えを与えた。 彼が何かを作るのにいて欲が生じて、それで無理になって、その過程にミスを犯したなら、その考えられなかった原因がいつもよくない結果で明らかになった。
彼は土から人生についた教えを受け土のような人生を生きることを願った。 彼は結局、学者がなった。

山下一個人會面,秀才土了。
21世紀,一個男人生活在那裏。 他從山下住着山愛 他的名字,高山的字。 另外,他把土是愛 但是,他住的時代的大部分人是泥土等重要的。
當時人們都忙碌的生活,附近參觀。 世界變化太快,所以人們對一個深入思考,來不及。 那個男人什麼是用土做的事情是人生幸福。
用土做什麼工作,他對人生的教誨。 他(指因爲慾望,所以勉強,而這個過程中失誤的話,那都想不到的原因是不好的結果總是,暴露了出來
他對人生的土那裏學到了泥土一樣的,人生的生活。 他終於成了儒生

A man under the hill met the clay and became a sunbi.
In the 21st century, a man lived. He lived under the mountains and loved mountains. His name was inscribed with letters high in the mountains. Also, he liked to touch the clay. However, most of the people who lived in the days of his life seem to think that the clay was not important.
Back then, everyone was busy and couldn't afford to look around. Because the world had changed so quickly, people had no time to think about it. It was the happiness of life to make him do something with clay.
Making something out of clay taught him a lesson about life. His greed for making something, and thus being forced into the process of making mistakes, has always proved to be a bad cause.
He was taught about life in the clay and wanted to live a life like clay. He ended up becoming a sunbi.
